Let me start off by saying, this is the best property that I’ve ever stayed in. Sandro and his family have a lovely home in the middle of the quiet beautiful neighborhood of Playa just a quick 10 minute drive to downtown Havana. Sandro arranged airport transportation for my group. Our friendly driver was there waiting for us as soon as we got off the plane. The house was a short 20 minute drive from the airport. We were greeted at the home by Sandro and his father in law, who gave us a tour of the home. The home has been painstakingly renovated by Sandro and his family and brought back to its former glory. Every detail restored and no expense spared. The furnishings, beds and linens will not disappoint. There is ample space and privacy and can easily accommodate a group of 6 people. Each bedroom has its own spacious bathroom and space to store your clothes. The dinning area will comfortably seat all of your guests. Just take a seat and look around at the gorgeous wood beams and beautiful marble floors and you will feel transported back in time. If you wish for a tranquil spot to enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee, you will have your pick of several spots. Perhaps you prefer the center atrium where you can see each room of the home, or perhaps the sunny roof terrace to catch a few rays or the absolutely amazing veranda with beautifully appointed furniture and cascading flowers that house serenading birds. If you want breakfast in the morning, a delicious plate of fresh tropical fruit, a mojito poolside or perhaps a dinner of freshly caught grilled tuna (caught that morning by Sandro and son), no problem Lasso is there to serve your every need. Perhaps you come back after a day out and want to cool off, no problem, you can take a dip in the courtyard pool. The tranquility of the center fountain will soothe your mind. And if this wasn’t enough, Sandro’s beautiful wife cleans and changes the linens everyday while you are out so you come back to an absolutely sparkling home. And it doesn’t stop there, even though we never felt for one moment unsafe, Sandro ensures that you are always protected, there is 24/7 security on the property. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. They were happy to give us recommendations for restaurants, things to do and to arrange taxis for us every time we needed a ride. They were very organized, timely and prepared. I am thoroughly impressed by this property and Sandro and his family. If you are coming to Havana, then you have to stay here, if not then you will be missing out on something truly spectacular.

If you are traveling to Havana from the United States, Havaning is an outstanding option. Sandro and his family are gracious hosts, and the home is classic and beautiful.

Our family booked Sandro’s home just a few, short weeks before the trip. We were beyond happy with the entire experience! The pictures and descriptions are exactly what you see: beautiful 1930s Cuban home, amazing stained glass, gorgeous gardens, an amazing fountain (pool for late afternoon dip!), amazing hospitality (Lasaro and Sandro would be around to offer cooking us breakfast and dinner, organizing cab rides, making espresso and mojitos at any time – beyond amazing!!!). The home was SPARKLING clean and in a very safe neighborhood. There was a guard that came every evening from 7 pm until 7 am; however, we never once heard an alarm from a police car or ambulance… even in Old Havana, there seems to be no crime. Each bedroom had its own AC unit, so the rooms were almost too cold 🙂 Each had its own mini-fridge stocked with bottled water, sodas, juices and beer – each for a small fee. There is a small ‘grocery’ store a few blocks away – you can purchase beer/wine/bottled water for a little less, but it may not be worth one’s time or walk. There was an amazing pizza place two blocks away (Pizzeria 22) that we walked to and ate dinner – so good! There’s also a Salsa dancing place closeby as well. A taxi ride from Sandro’s home to downtown Old Havana was about 15 CUCs. There’s also a second story with a beautiful sitting area filled with grape vines… you can eat the grapes right off the vine while overlooking the pool area. The bathrooms were super clean and filled with soap and toilet paper (unlike most other restaurants and shops in town – no toilet paper in Havana!) Sandro spoke very, very good Enligh. Our family spent 5 days and 4 nights in Cuba… we went to Fusterlandia, Old Havana, the Museums and the Old Car Tour. Everything was simply amazing and beautiful. The Cuba people are extremely nice as well! We will be back!!!!!
